The Sebastian Foundation

The Sebastian Foundation was formed in 2013 by my husband Guy and I. We have always had a heart for people and wanted to do our part to help others in our lifetime. Our focus is youth mental health. I had the heartbreaking experience of losing my brother to mental health many years ago, so the subject is near to my heart. I’ve seen first-hand the ripple effect that happens when someone you love is struggling and ultimately loses the battle with their mind. Being parents of 2 boys, we thought it was important for kids and youth to learn about their own mental health and have the tools and confidence to talk about and face anything they are experiencing within their own minds.  We have partnered with an in-school peer to-peer program called, Open Parachute, that uses clinically validated, research based, psychological skills-building exercises to boost resilience, self awareness, and social responsibility in youth, and increases their connection and systems of support founded by Clinical Psychologist, Dr Hayley Watson. Our goal is to see as many young Australian’s have the opportunity to gain access to this program through their school.
