Autumn/Winter Shopping at Westfield Chatswood

Was that crisp air I felt today?!

With summer finally waving goodbye, I am getting ready to embrace the cooler months ahead. I love dressing for autumn and winter because it’s all about layering up, wearing knits and knee high boots.

I recently headed to Westfield Chatswood to get started on my autumn/winter shop and was blown away by the choice of retailers and the fact that I was able to deck myself out in so many different styles all without leaving the building. I wanted looks that were on trend and were going to keep me going through the season changes.

Over the knee boot courage

boots

I’ve never been one for an over the knee boot. I don’t know if it’s my fear people thinking  I’ve walked straight from a scene of ‘Pretty Woman’, or my conservative Christian upbringing, but I’ve never been brave enough to try it…..till now. Once I summoned up the courage to parade myself down the street, Julia Roberts style, there was no stopping me. Now I can’t take them off! They actually go with everything and can be dressed up, or worn in a more casual way. I’m a convert. Can I get an Amen?

Here are three ways to wear the over the knee boot trend that will be everywhere this winter. If you aren’t seen in a pair this season it will be a ‘big mistake, big, HUGE’ (see what I did there?)

Fashion Discovery Alert!

I love fashion. It tells a story and you can be whoever you want to be in the given moment of getting dressed for the day. I also love when I discover a new fashion label! This happened  when I received an email recently introducing me to the Melbourne brand Dilia. Their interesting design and black, white, colbolt blue and nude colour palette had me at hello. When I had the chance to try it on, it was everything I wanted it to be!

Here are some sneaky snaps of what the brand has to offer, and why I love them so. Check out their pop up store in Galleria Melbourne if you can!

I stepped out of my fashion comfort zone

Sometimes I get stuck in a personal fashion rut. There I said it. It is so easy to stick to what I know and wear the same pair of jeans with the same tee and blazer over and over, till I purchase another pair jeans, a tee and blazer in a slightly different shade to what I already own…RUT. Being a mother has especially put me in the same old, same old category because, well…comfort!

Alas, in this post, I decided to put myself out of my fashion comfort zone and try a trend I have been watching for a while but have not yet tried – off the shoulder! I’m not sure why I haven’t bared all clavicle before, but when I came across this gorgeous Lucy McIntosh top from much loved shopping site Love Twain, I thought why not! I teamed it with another love of my life, STRIPES and voila – I was pulled from my rut instantly. I felt like I was ready for a European holiday!

I want to encourage you to try something you haven’t tried before and get yourself out of what you normally gravitate to. Even if you just try it on at the shops and not bring it home, it is a good way to open your mind to what might be out there for you. Choose a trend you really like but haven’t been bold enough to try and give it a go!

Enjoy the post! x

Confessions of a sandal convert….

screen-shot-2014-12-10-at-2-47-25-pm Confession. I’m not mad about summer fashion. I’m not a fan of getting my legs/skin/STOMACH out for the world to see. I’m never ready for that moment. Even with a spay tan and a good amount of filter on my pics, I just don’t seem to erhm…warm to the idea of the warmer months. Don’t get me wrong…I love me some sunshine and a folic at the beach, but can I wear my skinny jeans, biker boots and an oversized coat…and maybe a scarf?
