Confession. I’m not mad about summer fashion. I’m not a fan of getting my legs/skin/STOMACH out for the world to see. I’m never ready for that moment. Even with a spay tan and a good amount of filter on my pics, I just don’t seem to erhm…warm to the idea of the warmer months. Don’t get me wrong…I love me some sunshine and a folic at the beach, but can I wear my skinny jeans, biker boots and an oversized coat…and maybe a scarf?
This leads me to my next issue. Sandals. Even the word makes me shudder slightly on the inside. I don’t know if it’s the appearance of everyone’s winter toes and scaly heels or if it’s the daintiness of a sandal, but I just can’t seem to feel the love. I’m a tomboy from way back, so I’m all about the closed toe, laced up, velcro if you must, shoe. It’s how I roll..come rain or shine. Something about the security of socks gives me a happy feeling. BUT this summer, I have ventured out if you will, to allow myself to discover the world of sandal. As I do not wear rubber thongs (too lazy a fashion trend for me and I have really small skinny feet so they don’t stay on when I walk!) I sent myself on a mission to find a sandal I could embrace and in fact, wear. In my discovery, I found that the illusive sandal has now become my absolute, number 1, can’t live without, best friend! Who knew I was a sandal gal?
I’ve listed a few below that I own and love and would like to own and love. For me my rules are simple – chunky, flat, comfy, fashionable and looks good with all choices of outfits, including pjs for the emergency trip to the rubbish bin at 10pm.
If you missed my earlier post on how I wore my sandals with a gown (gasp, shock horror, can’t believe I did it) check it out here! http://julessebastian.com/2014/12/16/all-roads-lead-to/
From my converted feet to your probably already converted feet, thank you for never giving up on me and to the German gods for bring Birkenstocks back to 2014.
