Cinderella: Have courage and be kind

It’s not every day you get to be a Disney Princess for the day, so when Disney approached me to be a part of their Kindness campaign for the movie Cinderella, I was 100% in! We sent out a blast to social media for people to send their kindness messages and from there, the wonderful girls from One Day Bridal created a Kindness Dress. Selected quotes and messages were stitched into the dress to help build the #CinderellaKindnessDress.

Each message was hand stitched with gold thread by Lucie, a gorgeous French lady and the result is just beautiful. My favourite message was ‘Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful’. Wise words to live by because I truly do believe that everyone is beautiful in their own special and unique way.

I had a day trip to Melbourne for 2 fittings with One Day Bridal. The dress was created with a nod to Cinderella’s ball gown in ice blue with taffeta overlay. I fell instantly in love with the dress and was so excited and honoured to wear it.

Let’s just talk about the shoes. As we all know, the movie Cinderella is all about the glass slippers so I found the next best thing. These The Doll House xoxo diamanté encrusted stiletto’s sparkled like the night sky were the perfect choice for this moment. Thomas Sabo were so lovely in loaning me these beautiful baby blue and pearl accessories. Oroton made this exclusive Cinderella clutch for the special occasion – its covered in blue crystals!

I have always been a huge fan of Cate Blanchett. Not only is she simply stunning, but she is a talented actress and my style icon. She has the perfect balance of feminine mixed with that tomboy flair. You can only imagine my excitement on meeting her that evening, and she was every part the lady of grace I had pictured her to be. She commented on how she loved the concept of the dress and was so supportive of the cause. Love her.

I was so on board to be a part of this campaign of Kindness with Disney because I truly believe in the power of being kind and spreading it through social media and towards each other. Kind words and actions have the ability to change a person’s day and even life and it is not something to be taken lightly. Let’s think about the words we say (and type!) and spread love, encouragement and positivity with each other. The movie Cinderella (out on March 26th 2015) is a great example of how having courage and being kind to others will always come back to you.
