As a stylist one of the best parts of my job is getting to spend hours (okay sometimes too many hours) pouring over the latest red carpet looks. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine and while it’s so easy for people to judge people based on their outfits, I know what really happens behind-the-scenes – sometimes it’s weeks, months of planning and pulling samples, consulting with designers and looking at trends before finally… the winning outfit is chosen. It can be a really exhaustive process!
Then again, I’ve worked with people before who pick one outfit and stick with it – bypassing all the intensive work. You really never know your luck.
Like with any major red carpet, I had great fun pouring over the 2014 Logies Red Carpet action from the comfort of my lounge room with my baby in one arm and some chocolate in the other hand. Gosh there were some amazing dresses on display – I really think a lot of people got it right this year!
I decided to do something a little bit different – and judge the looks celebs posted on their social snaps So without further adieu here’s my Logies fashion recap as told by Instagram.
This lady rarely ever gets it wrong – in fact, does she ever? It was all white on the night for the Myer goddess as she set the red carpet on fire with her white Toni Maticevski gown – but her snaps on Instagram (including a sketch of the dress by Toni) really heated things up. Jen posted a series of pics of the process of getting ready and really proved why she is universally popular.
Wow. Wow. Wow That’s all I can say about Jesinta Campbell’s stunning red carpet look. Again sticking with a classic white gown by my lovely friend (and amazing designer) Steven Khalil – Jesinta looked like Hollywood royalty. Her instagram snaps showed her getting ready with Steven and she even included a flawless photo of herself before getting her make-up done. Beautiful.
This Paolo Sebastian frock was elegant and really exuded a beautiful princess vibe. Carrie kept is simple on her social media posting only one pic from the carpet – but with a dress that’s as much of a show-stopper as this that’s really all you need. Check out Carrie’s pic here
I have to applaud Sonia for wearing a red dress on the red carpet – especially one as good as this Alex Perry gown. Sonia is constantly one of the best dressed women in Australia in my opinion and this dress is no exception! Sonia gave credit where credit is due and posted a lovely pick with her make up artist and stylist – giving a hat-tip to the people that help make it happen! Earlier in the week she posted a hilarious pic cleaning Alex Perry’s floor in a bid to get him to style her – ha! She also showed off a stunning ruby ring she wore by Musson Jewellers.
Is it possible to be both sexy and beautiful at the same time? She looked SO good in this dress by Bei Na Wei – making a standout statement on the carpet. This look was about the whole package from her flowing Hollywood hair to the metallic YSL clutch she had in tow. Loved the sad face pic she posted with Dannii Minogue and Luke Jacobz – next time guys!
